Make Your House More Family Friendly
Many people take pride in their homes and their interior decorating. The house that you decide to raise a family in will be your home for several years so you want to make it as beautiful as possible. Investing in plush white carpets, glass sculptures, and hand painted china would certainly make your home look stunning; however, it also turns your house into a museum. Suddenly there are a million rules to which you all need to adhere: no food or drinks allowed in rooms with the white carpet, no standing within two feet of the expensive sculptures, and no dishwashing the decorative china. Home is a place where everyone should be able to relax! You should not become more tense the moment you walk in the door, afraid that you might break one of the three dozen rules. If you plan to raise a family in this home, then you need to make some more practical design choices! It is time to find some kitchen bar stools and darker carpet!
First, you need to check out the living room. This room often sees the most traffic because it has the entertainment center and a great table on which to do homework. Everyone loves snacking on popcorn or eating dessert in here after dinner and watching a recorded television show or movie. The white carpet makes this room a much less family-friendly place. What is the point of a living room if you cannot relax in it? Install a cheaper, darker carpet instead of a white carpet. If you chose a solid color that complements the rest of the room's décor, then it will still look great and you will not be so worried about your carpet. As long as you have some carpet stain remover nearby, your rugs will stay in great shape for years.
The next room you need to focus on is the kitchen. Buy some useable, dishwasher safe plates and silverware. No one wants to spend an hour hand-washing and drying all the china every evening. It is simply not worth the time and effort and takes away moments you could be spending with your family. You should also find some counter stools for your kitchen island or ledge. This area is perfect for quick breakfasts in the morning and setting out after school snacks.
You can still have a beautiful home with fabulous interior design, nice tables and bar stools are easy to find. Just make sure it is one that is practical and family friendly!
